Meet An Enchanting Couple: Cayla & Connor

We’re so excited for Connor & Cayla to tie the knot this weekend! When we had our first consultation in Panera, I knew they would be the perfect addition to the 2018 Enchanting Couple family. 1- They are getting married at Main Street Ballroom, where we happened to have weddings the two weekends leading up to their wedding and 2- They were all about having a great time with their friends and family to celebrate becoming HUSBAND AND WIFE!! You’ll notice how accurate #2 is by their answers below.

We can’t wait to send Cayla down the aisle this weekend at Patapsco Female Institute and hope you will keep up with our behind the scenes over on Instagram. We will be working with some great vendors:

How did you meet and how did he pop the question?

Connor and I met at Towson our freshman year. We lived two doors away from each other in the dorms.

Connor surprised me with a night at a bed and breakfast called Inn at Horn Point in Annapolis. We walked back from dinner and went down to a private little beach and were talking when he pulled the ring out and asked.

What are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?

Marrying my best friend and celebrating our love with our friends and famil

Are you taking a honeymoon? Where will you be going?

Connor and I have never been outside the country except to the Bahamas. We are taking our first big adventure as a married couple and going to Italy for two weeks after the wedding

Do you have any advice for future brides & grooms?

It's very stressful planning a wedding so make sure you BREATHE! Take time away from wedding planning-don't let it consume you. Everything will totally be worth it though on your wedding day.

The countdown is on!

Should You Have A Styled Engagement Session?

Nautical Styled Engagement Session Enchanting Events and Design

One of our favorite things about weddings is actually the events that come before the wedding. We are absolutely head over heels for the wedding day itself, but we strongly believe that couples should learn to celebrate everyday from getting engaged up until their grand exit. But why? Because it is going to fly by, and it is truly one of the best seasons in your life.

These celebrations begin with your engagement session. This is your chance to really get to know your wedding photographer, understand how they work, and learn to be comfortable in front of their camera. It’s also a great reason to get fancy and have a fun date night with your husband or wife to be! More times than not, a couple will search for an outfit and show up to spend an hour or two with their photographer, but it can be more than that if you want it to be!

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, it is a styled engagement session! Think a fun set-up, adorable props, and maybe even your own save-the-date if you don’t plan on using a photo on it. This is the perfect way to get photos to display at your wedding, and have it match your theme. The best part is that a styled engagement can be whatever you heart desires.

A styled engagement session rather than an entire wedding makes it easier to bring grand ideas to life, because of the smaller scale. Did you want to have a lounge set-up at your wedding, but don’t have the space? How about renting a vintage sofa, taking it into the city somewhere and having your photos done there. Maybe you and your fiancé spend a lot of time on the water in a canoe, why not bring that along? That was our inspiration for our nautical styled engagement shoot, and we love bringing fun ideas like that to life.

A styled engagement is your chance to show your story, share what you love as a couple and really enjoy the few hours together…all while having some incredible photos taken! The main point of your engagement session is to have fun, enjoy the moment and cherish your engagement season.

If you are interested in a styled engagement session, let us know! We are currently accepting a few requests and will work with your budget to bring your ideas to life.

Nautical Styled Engagement Session

A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to let our nautical hearts go wild with this beautiful styled engagement session. When Lauren from Lauren Werkheiser Photography contacted us about collaborating on a nautical shoot, we were all in. Any chance we get to do what we love in a nautical setting is a wonderful day. We teamed up with some other amazing creatives and went to work to bring the best engagement session we could to the Wye River Conference Center in Queenstown, Maryland.

Amongst the nonstop rain in Maryland, we were really happy to see a beautiful day which was perfect for this shoot. Our models, Leslie and John were incredible and really know how to rock an engagement session. Between the gorgeous blue dress, the lanterns and the canoe, we couldn’t have picked a more perfect location for this magic to come to life. We hope you love these photos as much as we do!

Bethany Beach Engagement: Meghan & Larry

We couldn't be more excited to share this engagement story with all of you! We may be a little bias because it was for our cousin/niece, but also because it made our nautical hearts so happy.

A few weeks ago I received a phone call from my cousins (then) boyfriend. I have been waiting for this call for months now, so I was hoping I knew what he was going to say...and he said it! He asked if we could help plan the perfect engagement for him and my cousin, Meghan. It worked out perfectly because we always go to Bethany Beach for easter. This wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary, and we could give her the nautical proposal of her dreams...or so I was hoping.

As I thought of ideas, several of them wouldn't work because of timing. It needed to be something that she wouldn't suspect, so it couldn't be at night, unfortunately because those lanterns would have been amazing, and it couldn't be in the morning because we always went to an egg hunt at the community hall after breakfast. Once that ended, we typically have a picnic at Assateague Island, where we also have our own egg hunt. This was the perfect time to "forget the eggs". I had planned to say we would run home to get them, and just have the egg hunt on the beach.

But then what would it be like on the beach? Even more ideas were running through my mind, a proposal with rose petals spelling the big question, a romantic set-up for the two of them, and other various ideas. While these would have been nice, family means so much to all of us, so I wanted to include everyone if I could. This is where the brainstorming came into play.

I talked with Larry about a few things, and then we decided on a few people holding signs that said "Will You Marry Me?" This worked out really well because Larry has two children and they were able to have a part of it. I also wanted to include a styled set-up for them to take some photos with after Meghan said "YES!"

I had Dave (my husband) set-up to take photos, my videocamera going to catch everything, and the perfect location on the beach. It turned out perfectly! One thing we didn't count for is the freezing temperatures and the high winds, which made some of the photos more difficult to get when fingers are red but it was still beautiful.

While the adults were "hiding" the eggs, Meghan stayed with the kids until Larry came to get them to begin the egg hunt. That was his children's hint to run as fast as possible to hold their sign. Then Meghan and Larry came around the corner. As they walked towards the signs, Larry began telling Meghan all the wonderful reasons they should be together, and how she is the best gal he could find. It was absolutely beautiful.

When Larry got down on one knee, Meghan said a tearful yes.

Once the question was popped, the children turned over their sign and it read "Will You Marry Us?"

They were able to get some adorable photos afterwards, and it all turned out so well! We are so excited for the two of them and can't wait to get to planning their big day!
